Habitat Restoration Party

Fall is upon us, which means we're starting into the best time of year to do revegetation projects in our corner of the world. The Columbia Basin chapter of WNPS received a grant that we're using to revegetate an area around the trailhead at the foot of McBee Grade with native plants.

We've got a lot of plants, from shrubs to wildflowers, to put into the ground in time to take advantage of the fall and winter rains we usually get. The land is owned by Bureau of Land Management and will continue to be public use land. This work is being done in partnership between BLM, CBWNPS, and REI. We could use your help for an hour or more to help get these planted and welcome all ages that want to participate. Please feel free to bring your kids and neighbors along to help out.

WHERE: Meet at McBee Trailhead. Address is 19205 N. McBee Rd, Benton City,WA 99320 for your GPS. If you're part of a group, you might consider carpooling from the Park and Ride near the gas station and round-about at the freeway interchange.

WHAT TO BRING: Dress for the weather, layers are best. Wear boots or sturdy shoes for uneven ground. Bring gloves if you have them, drinking water and snacks. We'll have tools but you're welcome to bring a shovel or sturdy hand trowel of your own.

WHO: All ages are welcome, kids should be accompanied by an adult.
