Bromus tectorum or cheatgrass was first found in the United States in 1861 in New York and Pennsylvania; by 1928, it was found throughout the most of the country. It is most abundant in the Great Basin and Columbia Basin. There are few options for controlling cheatgrass and reestablishing a native landscape. Steve has been experimenting with planting natives within cheatgrass dominated communities. Find out what works and what didn’t.
